Today Was Tough

Nothing could have prepared me for today,

Not my past experiences,

Not my current state of mind,

Not me hyping myself up in my head,

Not any song,

Not any quote or poem.

Today was tough,

And it made me tougher than I already am.

Today was tough,

And I fought with all my might.

Today was tough,

And I am surrendering now,

For I don't have any more battles left in me,

Not until I let me wounds dry and heal.

Not until I gather up my strength again.
