Summer Afternoons
Remember the summer afternoons,
15 summers ago,
When all we hoped for was,
To not get caught while playing hide and seek.
Remember the summer afternoons,
10 summers ago,
When all we hoped for was,
Being in the same class as your best friend in the next grade.
Remember the summer afternoons,
8 summers ago,
When all we did was to,
Cram math formulae for the test the next day.
Remember the summer afternoons,
4 summers ago,
When all we could do was to,
Read fantasy novels and cry when our favourite character died.
Remember the summer afternoons,
2 summers ago,
When we all were confused,
About what the future holds for us.
Remember the summer afternoons,
When we were waiting for something exciting to happen,
But, nothing did.
Remember the summer afternoon,
Of today,
When all we hoped for was something magical,
And all we got is hope for coincidences to happen.
Maybe tomorrow,
Or some summer afternoons later.
