Shukar

In English we say gratitude,

But, in Punjabi we say Shukar

ਸ਼ੁਕਰ // shukar — utmost thankfulness and gratitude for something towards a greater power

Zuban te bas ek hi jaap,

Shukar hai aapo-aap,

Te fer ki hor kahiye-bujhaiye,

Iss din te janam jo kamaiye,

Bas shukar hi shukar manaiye,

Ikko hi jaap gaiye.

On tongue only hums one thing,

Gratitude on it's own,

So, what else is there to say or think,

Of this day or this life that we live,

Only celebrating gratitude,

By humming it all along.
