Rigid

They ask me how can I be so rigid?

Maybe, on some other day these words would have broken me,

Shattered the already broken pieces of my heart,

And left me thinking,

Am I wrong in being the way I am?

But, today was different,

Because what I am today is because I am rigid,

Rigid in following my dreams,

Rigid to reach my goals,

Rigid to believe in my beliefs,

Rigid to be consistently hopeful,

Rigid to protect my energy,

Rigid to stay sane.

That's how I can be rigid,

And that's why you can't break me.
