Missed By Minutes
This time when your letter arrived, it brought the essence of the place where you were staying that time with some complimentary sadness. A sadness, which made me laugh at first and then made me fall for you even more later. Why? How? Read for yourself.
Gur, we always miss meeting each other by a few minutes. Do you even exist in the same universe as me?
Remember Banaras?
I missed seeing you because my train arrived 5 minutes late from Delhi and your train simply wanted to run away from me straight to Jaipur. Why couldn't it be delayed for 10 minutes? Why couldn't we speak for 5 of them?
And then Jaipur? I couldn't believe my fate.
You were at the Hawa Mahal at the same time as me. And yet, we spent the entire day thinking how the palace would look so much better with each other's company. Do you think we crossed paths that day? I would like to think we did. But, I would like to think that we didn't, because I wouldn't forgive myself if that had happened and I didn't see you or stop you or call you and simply be with you all day.
And now, Bareilly.
You knew I was here. Yet, you didn't tell me that you were coming? Why? You know, don't tell me why. I'll ask you why you keep running away from me, when you're in front of me and you have no where to go because I'm in front of you now.
So, tell me, why do you keep running, Gur?
And he was there, demanding answers to questions I didn't realise I'll ever have to face. But, I knew one thing, he was here to stay because it was enough that we kept missing each other by minutes, everyday.
