Midnight Conversations
I lie awake staring at the dark sky of the midnight,
When it starts speaking to me,
Asking if I’m an ocean,
I laughed, first because the sky could speak,
Then, because it thought I was as vast, as deep as the ocean.
I said, no, I wasn’t,
I was just a poet who’s trying to find words,
To answer the constant questions of the mind.
It was the sky’s turn to laugh now,
First because, I was a poet, maybe,
And then, because, I was staring at the sky to find answers.
The sky said, I looked like an ocean,
Because it thought I was a reflection of itself,
Dark with unfathomable questions,
Dark with no boundaries,
Dark with something familiar,
Dark with a sense of calmness,
Dark with hope,
Dark with a little light somewhere around the horizon.
It was us both then, who were laughing,
First because, we both knew how true everything felt,
And then because, we knew we weren’t alone.
