Like Fresh Heartbreak

This morning felt like fresh heartbreak,

All over again,

Like I haven't slept since nights and days,

Just in search of your eyes,

That no longer say anything I understand.

Yet when I find you,

You're already lost,

And even in the wee hours of the morning,

I am thinking about all the other beginnings of days,

That started with a smile on my face,

With simple treasures of seeing the light in your eyes.

But, this morning felt like fresh heartbreak,

All over again,

Like staring into darkness,

Even when the dawn breaks at the horizon,

Without you, without me, without us,

Seeing each other again.
