An Evening To Remember Until…

I sit by the window,

Watching the rain patter and reading a book,

So cute that I can’t stop smiling to myself.

With a quizzical face I look up,

As someone sits opposite me,

With his hair dripping,

Eyes mischievously grinning,

Cheeks flushed red.

He says hi,

As the barista brings me a cup of hot chocolate,

Being polite, I hi him back.

He looks at my mug with a surprised look,

As if I wasn’t supposed to drink it.

Orders a coffee,

Smiles at me,

Keeps the conversation going,

Until the sun shines through the clouds,

Until we finish our drinks,

Until our stomachs hurt from laughter,

Until my twin sister walks in through the door.
